Iris Desktop

AI image and video. On your desktop.

A native studio for Windows, macOS and Linux.

Edit images in layers, cut video on a real timeline, ask the assistant for the change you want, and run workflows on the engine built into the app.

Free download · Edit without an account · Source on GitHub

Describe the edit. Watch it happen.

The assistant sits next to every editor. Ask it to remove a background, warm up a photo or upscale it, and it works on the open document. Each change lands in the History panel as its own step, so you can always go back.

  • Suggestions that fit the image you have open
  • Every step shown as it runs
  • Changes saved as layers and history, not baked in

Asking the assistant to warm up a portrait, then upscale it 2x.

A real image editor, with layers.

Layers, masks and adjustment layers stay editable. The toolbox and panels follow the layout you know from desktop photo editors, with filters, adjustments and AI tools in the same window.

Cut video on a real timeline.

Stack video, title and audio tracks. Trim, split and arrange clips, drop in transitions and effects, animate with keyframes, then export with FFmpeg.

Adding a Film Dissolve between two clips and trimming the third.

Chain models into workflows.

Connect prompts, image and video models, editing steps and outputs as nodes. Workflows run on the engine built into the app, so a run starts on your computer and calls only the providers you choose.

  • Inputs, generators, editors and outputs as nodes
  • Run it once, or over many inputs from the Batch page
  • Results saved straight to a folder on your computer

Prompt, image, upscale, image to video and save, run on the built-in engine.

Run a workflow over a whole spreadsheet.

Drop in a CSV and every row becomes one run of your workflow. Choose how many run at once, then watch each result arrive.

A 24-row catalog run four at a time.

Bring your own keys.

Add keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google AI, Runway, ElevenLabs and more, and workflows use your own accounts. Keys are encrypted on your computer and only their last four characters are shown again.

Adding provider keys in Settings.

Your files stay on your computer.

Open images, video and projects from your own folders and save the results next to them. Editing works without an account. Sign in with Parallax AI only when you want its AI tools and your cloud library.

Questions

Is Iris Desktop free?
Yes. The app is a free download, and editing your own images and video costs nothing. AI generation uses credits from your Parallax AI account, or your own provider keys when you run workflows.
Do I need an account?
No. You can open and edit files without signing in. Sign in with your Parallax AI account to use the AI tools and your cloud library.
Which systems does it run on?
Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit), macOS on Apple silicon and Intel, and 64-bit Linux as an AppImage.
Where are my files kept?
On your computer. You open files from your own folders, and projects and exports are saved where you choose.
How is it different from Iris on the web?
Iris on the web runs in your browser. The desktop app adds the full image and video editors, a workflow engine built into the app, batch runs and direct access to files on your computer.
What happens to the API keys I add?
They are encrypted with your operating system's secure storage and stay on your computer. The app only shows their last four characters after you save them.
